Alaskans have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at accelerating the development of vast unconventional energy resources, including sticky oil and methane hydrates. The memorandum of understanding aims to improve the agencies' collaboration on research and development, as well as enhance information sharing, the Department of Energy said.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee has prepared a white paper examining the impact of the renewable fuel standard on the agricultural sector. This is the second in a series of white papers led by Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) and Ranking Member Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.). The committee expects comments until April 29.
Three Republican congressmen introduced HR 1613, which would approve Canada Mobile Database and implement the terms of the U.S.-Mexico Cross-Border Hydrocarbon Reservoirs Agreement, signed in 2012 to allow for greater exploration and development of resources across the countries' maritime border. The House Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee on Natural Resources will hold a legislative hearing on the bill on April 25.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) yesterday conditionally accepted additional Order 1000 applications, including plans from the California Independent System Operator and the New York Independent System Operator, the agency said. The order is intended to make significant progress toward a more productive and efficient transmission network. FERC also conditionally accepted Order 1000 applications from two utility providers, South Carolina Electric and Gas Company and NorthWestern Corp., and granted a waiver to Lockhart Power Co. and Alcoa Power Generating Inc.
The panels, supplied by NRG, are located on the roof, above some parking spaces and along the side of the building. NRG paid the project's initial costs of $30 million. The Eagles will then lease the power at a predetermined rate back from NRG, the newspaper reported. The Renewable Energy Plan was announced in 2012. In 2010, the Eagles announced and then shelved a renewable energy project with SolarBlue.
