Mandy Mahoney (pictured) has been named president of the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance. Mahoney joined SEEA two years ago as the organization’s vice president of policy and operations. Before joining the Alliance, Mahoney served as the City of Atlanta’s director of sustainability for both Mayor Kasim Reed and Mayor Shirley Franklin. Mahoney replaces Michael Mills, who has led the organization over the past two years.
Duke Energy has hired John Fremstad as a business development manager to recruit data centers to its six-state service territory. Fremstad has worked the past 10 years as vice president of the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission in Florida, recruiting large-scale construction projects. Data centers are attractive customers for electrical utilities because they use a lot of energy but have relatively flat loads, according to Data Center Dynamics.
The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) announced that Telegram Number Data Kimberly Greene, president and chief executive officer of Southern Company Services, will chair the board of directors. Greene had served a term as vice chair. Prior to her current appointment at Southern, Greene was executive vice president and chief generation officer of TVA, where she held several executive-level positions, including group president for strategy and external relations. She has served as chief financial officer, executive vice president of financial services and chief risk officer.
In the UK, Michael Fallon will join DECC as minister of state for energy and climate change, as John Hayes leaves the department to take up the role of minister of state without portfolio. Fallon will also continue his current role as a minister of state at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills – this will join the government’s work on low-carbon industries like nuclear and offshore wind with the supply chain.
Stem, an energy optimization company, appointed Prakesh Patel in the newly created position of vice president of Capital Markets and Strategy. Patel joins Stem from Angeleno Group, a growth equity and venture capital firm focused on next generation clean energy and natural resources companies, where he helped to lead their investment in Stem and led transactions across a range of sectors. Previously, he helped to build and manage a portfolio of private equity investments in technology and energy businesses at Nova Capital and Deutsche Bank.
Richard Deutschmann has joined Ameresco as senior project developer for its Federal Solutions Group in Columbia, Md. Deutschmann has 25 years of energy experience, primarily focused on the solar energy industry. In his role, he will develop and execute strategies to grow solar energy capabilities that will serve the company’s federal government clients, as well as manage a portfolio of projects ranging from 100 kW to over 10 mW for rooftop, ground-mounted and parking canopy applications.
